ABOUT ASHLEY HANOSH

Honey in the Rough provides a constant stream of imaginative style options to exquisitely discriminating ladies in NYC and around the world. A homey alternative to the glaring lights and unending bustle of a department store, the Lower East Side-based boutique offers a totally fresh selection of dresses, accessories, apothecary items and beauty solutions in a quaint, personalized in-store experience or through an inspiring online shopping adventure.

Opened in 2006 by proprietor Ashley Hanosh, Honey in the Rough revolves around the central building block of women’s fashion—the dress! With an impeccably edited selection of frocks at the fore, Hanosh curates a decidedly global mix of special things from the chicest locations on earth. A stop at the store or journey through the web site can yield a prim dress from Brooklyn, a colorful wallet from Tokyo, fresh cologne from London, funky nail polish from Germany or natural shampoo from the Amazon. Hanosh and her staff act as personal stylists, pulling pieces specially suited to each customer’s figure, lifestyle and individual attitude. In addition to the store’s fashion and apothecary offerings, a full-scale beauty services studio lives just downstairs, where lash and brow expert Rosie Rodriguez offers a full menu of makeup and esthetic services. Rodriguez’s award-winning lash extensions, brow shaping and occasion makeup application completes Hanosh’s vision of a one-stop style shop where a girl can get an individual head-to-toe look she loves.

Hanosh learned the workings of a classic dress shop at an early age. Growing up in her mother’s women’s clothing store in Albuquerque, New Mexico, she spent after-school hours and summers exploring the stock, a dream for any style-minded little girl. It was the ‘80s. Fashion was fun, vivid, individual—all the things that Hanosh looks for today when choosing pieces to hang on the racks in her own store. After several years working in San Francisco as a makeup artist and cosmetics industry executive, Hanosh landed in NYC and quickly found her place in the storied Lower East Side shopping community. She remains happily perched in her Rivington Street haven, ever ready with intuitive personal style advice, insider beauty tips and an incandescent smile.
