Yara Flinn is the 27-year-old designer of New York-based line Nomia, which launched in Spring 2007. Before that, Yara held stints at the Fondazione Prada, a contemporary art nonprofit run by the Italian fashion house, and with the art-influenced design team United Bamboo. After developing her sculptural approach while studying draping and patternmaking at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York, she began to create artistic pieces with an edge, resulting in looks that are at once modern, feminine, intelligent and suggestive. Nomia is a collection for the artistically empowered downtown woman.
