Tsumori Chisato

Once a protégé of the great Issey Miyake, Tokyo native Tsumori Chisato broke out on her own in 1990. Ever since, she’s been wowing the fashion world with creations that are at once quirky and elegant. Superior cuts and luxurious fabrics are the basis of her design philosophy—her dresses are simple, yet elevated. But she’ll throw in playful elements like cartoon animal prints, hand-illustrated ballerinas and totally unexpected embellishments. Sparkle, lace, embroidery and ruffle are her friends, popping up alongside wild prints and surrealist motifs with calculated abandon.
